Welcome to Worship at Highlands
Highlands United Methodist Church offers two worship services each Sunday. The first, at 8:30 a.m. is held in the Chapel and is a smaller, more contemplative service of Word and Table, with a small ensemble chorus, scripture readings, hymns, sermon, and Holy Communion. The second service, each Sunday at 10:30 a.m. held in the Sanctuary is a service of Morning Prayer, with a strong emphasis on liturgy, scripture, proclamation, and sacred music. Holy Communion is offered on the first Sunday of each month and major feast days. Both services are warm and welcoming, and new worshipers are invited to participate fully in the singing of hymns, responses to readings, and to receive Holy Communion. Worship at Highlands combines sights, sounds, liturgy, and ritual into a meaningful experience for a diverse community who then serve their neighbors in their daily lives.
We strive to ensure that all visitors to Highlands feel comfortable and at home when they attend worship. While clergy and worship leaders are robed, participants in worship are welcome to wear clothing that makes them feel at ease, with no expectations for “coat and tie” or fancy dress.
All Are Welcome
Highlands United Methodist Church affirms that nothing can separate anyone from the love of God. We invite all to worship, wonder, and discover God’s grace as we aspire to create a safe space for all to participate fully in the life of this community of faith. We are called to shine as a beacon of hope, grace, belonging and respect for all people. Regardless of age, gender identity, ethnicity, sexual orientation, family, financial status, nationality, physical or mental ability, past or future, there is room for you at Highlands.
Highlands United Methodist Church is a community of disciples of Christ; a beacon of hope, inviting all to become new persons in Christ to be sent into the world to share the Gospel and to serve our neighbors; and a sanctuary for those in need of God’s love and grace.
